The striking red granite building, designed by famed architect Henry Ives Cobb in 1892 to house the Chicago Historical Society, is recognized as an architectural treasure and has been honored with designation as a historical landmark.
Excalibur was named "Best Nightclub in Chicago" by the Chicago Tribune in its latest â€œBest ofâ€ Readerâ€™s Poll, and has received similar awards almost yearly since it opened in 1989. In 1999, Excalibur was also named one of the top five entertainment attractions for visitors in Chicago by Where Magazine, along with Navy Pier, Second City, Blue Chicago and House of Blues.
